Ezekiel 17:18

Word of Yahweh

Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.

And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my heart is with thy heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it be, give me thine hand. And he gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.

And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.

Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto Yahweh, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve Yahweh your Elohim, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.

I counsel thee to keep the king's commandment, and that in regard of the oath of Elohim.

We have given the hand to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.

But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? Shall he escape that doeth such things? Or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?

As I live, saith the Sovereign Yahweh, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

Therefore thus saith the Sovereign Yahweh; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.

And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, to them that have sworn oaths: but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.
