And though I could prophesy, and understood all secrets, and all knowledge: yee, if I had all faith so that I could move mountains out of their places, and yet had no love, I were nothing.

¶ To speak of things dedicate unto idols, we are sure that we all have knowledge. Knowledge maketh a man swell: but love edifieth.

But cast away unghostly and old wives' fables. ¶ Exercise thyself unto godliness.

Of these things put them in remembrance, and testify before the Lord, that they strive not about words, which is to no profit, but to pervert the hearers.

Unghostly and vain voices pass over. For they shall increase unto greater ungodliness,

Foolish and unlearned questions put from thee, remembering that they do but make strife.

and not taking heed to jewes fables, and commandments of men, which turn from the truth.

¶ From whence cometh war, and fighting among you? come they not here hence? even of your voluptuousness that reign in your members.
