For as I passed by and beheld the manner how ye worship your goddes, I found an altar wherein was written: unto the unknown God. Whom ye then ignorantly worship, him shew I unto you:

When they heard of the resurrection from death, some mocked, and other said: we will hear thee again of this matter.

¶ For the wrath of God of heaven appeareth against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men which withhold the truth in unrighteousness,

¶ For this cause God gave them up unto their hearts' lusts, unto uncleanness to defile their own bodies between themselves:

For this cause God gave them up unto shameful lusts. For even their women did change the natural use unto the unnatural.

Awake truly out of sleep, and sin not. For some have not the knowledge of God. I speak this unto your rebuke.

wherewith we overthrow imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bring into captivity all understanding to the obedience of Christ,

neither filthiness, neither foolish talking, neither jestings, which are not comely: but rather giving of thanks.

in flaming fire, rendering vengeance unto them that know not God, and to them that obey not unto the gospell of our Lord Iesus Christ,

¶ As Iannes and Iambres withstood Moses, even so do these resist the truth, men they are of corrupt minds, and lewd as concerning the faith:

They confess that they know God: but with deeds they deny him and are abominable, and disobedient, and unto all good works discommendable.

¶ Wherefore though I be bold in Christ to enjoin thee, that which becometh thee:

This they know not (and that willingly) how that the heavens a great while ago were, and the earth that was in the water, appeared up out of the water by the word of God:
