And they sat and watched him there.
And they set up over his head the cause of his death written: This is Iesus the king of the jews.
¶ When the petty captain, and they that were with him watching Iesus, saw the earthquake and those things which happened, they feared greatly saying, Of a surety this was the son of God.
And when the undercaptain which stood before him saw that he so cried and gave up the ghost, and he said: truly this man was the son of God.
Pilate marvelled that he was already dead, and called unto him the under captain, and asked of him, whether he had been any while dead.
