and spied a fig tree in the way, and came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said to it, never fruit grow on thee hence forwards. And anon the fig tree withered away.

And when his disciples saw that, they marvelled saying: How soon is the fig tree withered away?

And Iesus answered and said to it: never man eat fruit of thee hereafter while the world standeth. And his disciples heard it.

And in the morning as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up by the roots.

Now also is the axe laid unto the root of the trees. Every tree therefore, which bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Every branch that beareth not fruit in me, He will take away. And every branch that beareth fruit will he purge that it may bring more fruit.

If a man bide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered: and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they burneth.

having a similitude of godly living, but have denied the power there of. Such abhor.

They confess that they know God: but with deeds they deny him and are abominable, and disobedient, and unto all good works discommendable.

¶ These are spots which of your kindness feast together, without fear, feeding themselves. Clouds they are without water, carried about of winds: Trees rotten in autumn, unfruitfull, twice dead, and plucked up by the roots.

He that doth evil, let him do evil still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be more righteous: and he that is holy, let him be more holy.
