But what went ye forth to see? A prophet? Yee I say to you, and more than a prophet.
And thou child, shalt be called the prophet of the highest, for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord, to prepare his ways:
¶ The law, and the prophets reigned until the time of Ihon: Since that time, the kingdom of God is preached, and every man striveth to go in.
But and if we shall say of men, all the people will stone us. For they surely believe that Ihon was a prophet.
But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.
This is he of whom it is written: Behold I send my messenger before thy face, to prepare thy way before thee.
He was a burning, and a shining light, and ye would for a season have rejoiced in his light.
