And Iesus answered him, saying: It is written: man shall not live by bread only, but by every word of God.

He answered and said: it is written, man shall not live only by bread, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

¶ Therefore take no thought saying: what shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed?

¶ And he said unto them: when I sent you without wallet, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, nothing.

For it is written, he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee,

And the devil said unto him: if thou be the son of God, command this stone that he be bread.

Iesus answered and said unto him: hence from me Satan. For it is written. Thou shalt honour thy Lord God, and him only serve.

And take the helmet of health, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God,
