Now also is the axe laid unto the root of the trees. Every tree therefore, which bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Even now is the axe put unto the root of the trees: so that every tree which bringeth not forth, good fruit, shall be hewn down, and cast into the fire.

¶ He put forth this similitude, A certain man had a fig tree in his vineyard, and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

Then said he to the dresser of his vineyard: Behold this three year have I come and sought fruit in this fig tree, and find none, cut it down: why cumbereth it the ground?

to see whether it will bear fruit: if not, then after that, cut it down.

If a man bide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered: and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they burneth.

He that despiseth Moses' law, dieth without mercy under two or three witnesses.

For our God is a consuming fire.
