Nathanael said unto him: From whence knewest thou me? Iesus answered and said unto him: Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

But when thou prayest, enter into thy chamber, and shut thy door to thee, and pray to thy father which is in secret: and thy father which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

Philip was of Bethsaida the city of Andrew and Peter.

the same came to Philip which was of Bethsaida a city in Galile, and desired him saying: Sir we would fain see Iesus.

¶ Philip said unto him: Lord shew us thy father and it sufficeth us.

and needed not, that any man should testify of man. For he knew what was in man.

Then Iesus lift up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, and said unto Philip: whence shall we buy bread that these might eat:

¶ Philip answered him, two hundred pennyworth of bread are not sufficient for them, that every man have a little.

and so are the secrets of his heart opened: and then falleth he down on his face, and worshippeth god, and saith that god is with you indeed.

Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, which will lighten things that are hid in darkness: and open the counsels of the hearts. And then shall every man have praise of God.
