and the high priests, and scribes sought how to kill Iesus, but they feared the people.

And they were ail amazed, and they lauded God, and were filled with fear, saying: We have seen strange things today.

But that it be noised no farther among the people, let us threaten and charge them that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

For the man was above forty year old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.

And of other durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.

Then went the ruler of the temple with ministers, and brought them without violence. For they feared the people lest they should have been stoned.

And to him they agreed, and called the apostles, and beat them, and commanded that they should not speak in the name of Iesu, and let them go.
