Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, whereof the holy ghost hath made you overseers, to rule the congregation of God, which he hath purchased with his blood.

And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter. And upon this rock I will build my congregation: and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

¶ But take ye heed to yourselves. For they shall bring you up to the councils and into the synagogues, and ye shall be beaten, and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings, for my sake, for a testimonial unto them.

¶ Fear not little flock, for it is your father's pleasure, to give you a kingdom.

¶ Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be overcome, with surfeiting and drunkenness, and cares of this world: and that, that day come on you unawares.

As they served God, and fasted, The holy ghost said: separate me Barnabas and Saul, for the work whereunto I have called them.

And when they had ordained them seniors by election in every congregation, after they had prayed and fasted, they commended them to God on whom they believed.

¶ From Mileton he sent to Ephesus, and called the seniors of the congregation.

For I am sure of this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, which will not spare the flock.

Salute one another among yourselves with an holy kiss. The congregations of Christ salute you.

Unto the congregation of God which is at Corinthum. To them that are sanctified in Jesus Christ, saints by calling, with all that call on the name of our Lord Iesus Christ in every place, both of theirs and of ours.

in whom we have redemption thorow his blood, that is to say, forgiveness of sins,

And say to Archippus: Take heed to thine office that thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.

¶ This is a true saying: If a man covet the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

Yee and a bishop must be faultless, the husband of one wife, sober, of honest behavior, honestly apparelled, harbourous, apt to teach,

For if a man cannot rule his own house, how shall he care for the congregation of God.

Despise not the gift that is the thee, which was given thee thorow prophecy, and with laying on of the hands of a senior.

Take heed unto thyself and unto learning, and continue therein. For if thou shalt so do thou shalt save thyself, and them that hear thee.

¶ The seniors that rule well are worthy of double honour, most specially they which labour in the word and in teaching.

For a bishop must be such as no man can complain on, as it be cometh the minister of God not stubborn, not angry, no drunkard, no fighter, not given to filthy lucre:

which gave himself for us, to redeem us from all unrighteousness, and to purge us a peculiar people unto himself, fervently given unto good works.

And see that no man be destitute of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness spring up and trouble: and thereby many be defiled.

Obey them that have the oversight of you, and submit yourselves to them, for they watch for your souls, even as they should give accounts for them: that they may do it with joy, and not with grief. For that is an unprofitable thing for you.

For ye were as sheep which go astray: but are now returned unto the shepherd, and bishop of your souls.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, and a peculiar people, that ye should shew the vertues of him that called you out of darkness into his marvelous light,

but and if we walk in light even as he is in light, then have we fellowship with him, and the blood of Christ his son cleanseth us from all sin.

and they sung a new song saying: thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof, for thou wast killed, and hast redeemed us by thy blood, out of all kindreds, and tongues, and people, and nations,
