In this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

¶ This command I you, that ye love together.

And hereby we know that we have known him, if we keep his commandments.

Whosoever keepeth his word, in him is the love of God perfect in deed. And thereby know we that we are in him.

We know that we are translated from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother, abideth in death.

And this commandment have we of him: that he which loveth God, should love his brother also.
