I would that ye all spake with tongues: but rather that ye prophesied. For greater is he that prophesieth, than he that speaketh with tongues, except he expound it also, that the congregation may have edifying.

¶ And these signs shall fellow them that believe: In my name they shall cast out devils, and shall speak with new tongues,

¶ Let us follow those things which make for peace: and things wherewith one may edify another.

To another power to do miracles: To another prophecy, To another judgement of spirits, To another diverse tongues: To another the interpretation of tongues:

¶ Though I spake with the tongues of men and angels, and yet had no love, I were even as sounding brass: and as a tinkling cymbal.

¶ Love suffereth long, and is courteous. Love envieth not. Love doth not frowardly, swelleth not,

¶ Labour for love, and covet spiritual gifts: and most chiefly for to prophesy.

Thou verily givest thanks well: but the other is not edified.
