Then Peter took Him aside and began taking Him to task. »Master,« he said, »God forbid; this will not be your lot.«

They also asked Him, »How is it that the Scribes say that Elijah must first come?«

They, however, did not understand what He meant, and were afraid to question Him.

As they were coming down from the mountain, He very strictly forbad them to tell any one what they had seen »until after the Son of Man has risen from among the dead.«

The meaning of this His disciples did not understand at the time; but after Jesus was glorified they recollected that this was written about Him, and that they had done this to Him.

A few of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also encountered him. Some of them asked, »What has this beggarly babbler to say?«»His business,« said others, »seems to be to cry up some foreign gods.« This was because he had been telling the Good News of Jesus and the Resurrection.
