And He took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them saying, »Drink from it, all of you;

Also during the meal He took a Passover biscuit, blessed it, and broke it. He then gave it to them, saying, »Take this, it is my body.«

»This is my blood,« He said, »which is to be poured out on behalf of many–the blood which makes the Covenant sure.

Then, having received the cup and given thanks, He said, »Take this and share it among yourselves;

He who regards the day as sacred, so regards it for the Master's sake; and he who eats certain food eats it for the Master's sake, for he gives thanks to God; and he who refrains from eating it refrains for the Master's sake, and he also gives thanks to God.

The cup of blessing, which we bless, does it not mean a joint-participation in the blood of Christ? The loaf of bread which we break, does it not mean a joint-participation in the body of Christ?
