and certain women whom He had delivered from evil spirits and various diseases–Mary of Magdala, out of whom seven demons had come,
Thus His fame spread through all Syria; and they brought all the sick to Him, the people who were suffering from various diseases and pains–demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He cured them.
When the Sabbath was over, Mary of Magdala, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, in order to come and anoint His body.
[But He rose to life early on the first day of the week, and appeared first to Mary of Magdala from whom He had expelled seven demons.
A vast crowd of the people also followed Him, and of women who were beating their breasts and wailing for Him.
But all His acquaintances, and the women who had been His followers after leaving Galilee, continued standing at a distance and looking on.
The women –those who had come with Jesus from Galilee– followed close behind, and saw the tomb and how His body was placed.
»What is your name?« Jesus asked him. »Legion,« he replied–because a great number of demons had entered into him;
Now standing close to the cross of Jesus were His mother and His mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala.
All of these with one mind continued earnest in prayer, together with some women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and His brothers.
