And already the axe is lying at the root of the trees, so that every tree which does not produce good fruit will quickly be hewn down and thrown into the fire.

Every tree which does not yield good fruit is cut down and thrown aside for burning.

And He gave them the following parable. »A man,« He said, »who had a fig-tree growing in his garden came to look for fruit on it and could find none.

So he said to the gardener, »`See, this is the third year I have come to look for fruit on this fig-tree and cannot find any. Cut it down. Why should so much ground be actually wasted?'

If after that it bears fruit, well and good; if it does not, then you shall cut it down.'«

If any one does not continue in me, he is like the unfruitful branch which is at once thrown away and then withers up. Such branches they gather up and throw into the fire and they are burned.

Any one who bids defiance to the Law of Moses is put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

For our God is also a consuming fire.
