So the Lord Jesus after having thus spoken to them was taken up into Heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.

So they removed the stone. Then Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, »Father, I thank Thee that Thou hast heard me.

And Stephen, full of grace and power, performed great marvels and signs among the people.

For God who said, »Out of darkness let light shine,« is He who has shone in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory, which is radiant on the face of Christ.

He brightly reflects God's glory and is the exact representation of His being, and upholds the universe by His all-powerful word. After securing man's purification from sin He took His seat at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Now in connexion with what we have been saying the chief point is that we have a High Priest who has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of God's Majesty in the heavens,

He received honour and glory from God the Father, and out of the wondrous glory words such as these were spoken to Him, »This is My dearly-loved Son, in whom I take delight.«

and bringing with it the glory of God. It shone with a radiance like that of a very precious stone–such as a jasper, bright and transparent.
