And he gave orders to the Captain that Paul was to be kept in custody, but be treated with indulgence, and that his personal friends were not to be prevented from showing him kindness.

But Paul's sister's son heard of the intended attack upon him. So he came and went into the barracks and told Paul about it;

he said, »I will hear all you have to say, when your accusers also have come.« And he ordered him to be detained in custody in Herod's Palace.

At the same time he hoped that Paul would give him money; and for this reason he sent for him the oftener to converse with him.

Festus, however, replied that Paul was in custody in Caesarea, and that he was himself going there very soon.

The next day we put in at Sidon. There Julius treated Paul with thoughtful kindness and allowed him to visit his friends and profit by their generous care.

Upon our arrival in Rome, Paul received permission to live by himself, guarded by a soldier.

He announced the coming of the Kingdom of God, and taught concerning the Lord Jesus Christ without let or hindrance.
