They had noticed that some of His disciples were eating their food with `unclean' (that is to say, unwashed) hands.
His mother, however, said, »No, he is to be called John.«
»Sir,« she said, »you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep; so where can you get the living water from?
and a voice came to him which said, »Rise, Peter, kill and eat.«
He said to them, »You know better than most that a Jew is strictly forbidden to associate with a Gentile or visit him; but God has taught me to call no one unholy or unclean.
»`Who art thou, Lord?' I asked.« `I am Jesus, the Nazarene,' He replied, `whom you are persecuting.'
»Who art thou, Lord?« he asked. »I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,« was the reply.
