I have written to you, not because you are ignorant of the truth, but because you know it, and you know that nothing false comes from the truth.

»So then you are a king!« rejoined Pilate. »Yes,« said Jesus, »you say truly that I am a king. For this purpose I was born, and for this purpose I have come into the world–to give testimony for the truth. Every one who is a friend of the truth listens to my voice.«

The father whose sons you are is the Devil; and you desire to do what gives him pleasure. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand firm in the truth–for there is no truth in him. Whenever he utters his lie, he utters it out of his own store; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.

You know this, my dearly-loved brethren. But let every one be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to be angry.

For this reason I shall always persist in reminding you of these things, although you know them and are stedfast believers in truth which you already possess.

And in this way we shall come to know that we are loyal to the truth, and shall satisfy our consciences in His presence

I desire to remind you –although the whole matter is already familiar to you– that the Lord saved a people out of the land of Egypt, but afterwards destroyed those who had no faith.
