For John the Baptist came neither eating bread, nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a demon.

It is enough for the disciple that he should be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord: if they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call them of his household?

In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea,

And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his food was locusts and wild honey.

And John was clothed with camels hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he ate locusts and wild honey;

For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

They are like children sitting in the market-place, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped to you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.

The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold, a gluttonous man, and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners.

And many of them said, He hath a demon, and is insane; why hear ye him?

Then answered the Jews, and said to him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a demon?

Then said the Jews to him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man shall keep my saying, he shall never taste death.

Others mocking, said, These men are full of new wine.
