But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy life-time receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

From men who are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, who have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.

Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.

Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none helped her: the adversaries saw her, and mocked at her sabbaths.

And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they who would pass from hence to you, cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

But woe to you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

These things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye will have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world.

Confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.

Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed to it.

Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loveth the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

And I said to him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they who came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
