No one could say a word in answer; nor did any one after that day venture to question him further.
So the answer they gave Jesus was--"We do not know." "Then I," he said, "refuse to tell you what authority I have to do these things.
Since, then, David calls him 'lord,' how is he David's son?"
Seeing that he had answered with discernment, Jesus said to him: "You are not far from the Kingdom of God." After that no one ventured to question him further.
As he said this, his opponents all felt ashamed; but all the people rejoiced to see all the wonderful things that he was doing.
They remained silent. Jesus took hold of the man and cured him, and sent him away.
And they could not make any answer to that.
For they did not venture to question him any further.
But, when they looked at the man who had been healed, standing there with them, they had nothing to say.
'I am the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.' Moses trembled, and did not dare to look.
