And plotted together to arrest Jesus by stealth and put him to death;

At daybreak all the Chief Priests and the Councillors of the Nation consulted together against Jesus, to bring about his death.

It was now two days before the Festival of the Passover and the Unleavened bread. The Chief Priests and the Teachers of the Law were looking for an opportunity to arrest Jesus by stealth, and to put him to death;

Immediately on leaving the Synagogue, the Pharisees and the Herodians united in laying a plot against Jesus, to put him to death.

The Chief Priest and the Teachers of the Law were looking for an opportunity of destroying Jesus, for they were afraid of the people.

But the Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees were goaded to madness, and consulted together what they could do to Jesus.

The Jews again brought stones to throw at him;

Upon this the Jews again sought to arrest him; but he escaped their hands.

So from that day they plotted to put Jesus to death.

The Chief Priests and the Pharisees had already issued orders that, if any one learned where Jesus was, he should give information, so that they might arrest him.

This made the Jews all the more eager to kill him, because not only was he doing away with the Sabbath, but he actually called God his own Father--putting himself on an equality with God.

So they sought to arrest him; but no one touched him, for his time was not come yet.

The Pharisees heard the people whispering about him in this way, and so the Chief Priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him;

Some of them wanted to arrest him, and yet no one touched him.

At this they took up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself, and left the Temple Courts.
