And, if any one gives but a cup of cold water to one of these lowly ones because he is a disciple, I tell you that he shall assuredly not lose his reward."

But one poor widow came and put in two farthings, which make a half-penny.

These statements Jesus made in the Treasury, while teaching in the Temple Courts. Yet no one arrested him, for his time had not then come.

So the disciples, without exception, determined, in proportion to their means, to send something to help the Brethren living in Judea.

For, where there is willingness, a man's gift is valued by its comparison with what he has, and not with what he has not.

How, tired though they were by many a trouble, their overflowing happiness, and even their deep poverty, resulted in a flood of generosity.
