Jesus at once called them, and they left their father Zebediah in the boat with the crew, and went after him.

He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Going on a little further, he saw James, Zebediah's son, and his brother John, who also were in their boat mending the nets.

And they walked into Capernaum. On the next Sabbath Jesus went into the Synagogue and began to teach.

"I tell you," said Jesus, "there is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or mother, or father, or children, or land, on my account and on account of the Good News,

"If any man comes to me and does not hate his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, yes and his very life, he can be no disciple of mine.

And, when they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything, and followed him.

For ourselves, then, from this time forward, we refuse to regard any one from the world's standpoint. Even if we once thought of Christ from the standpoint of the world, yet now we do so no longer.
