Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, who was a leading man among the Jews.
So Pilate summoned the Chief Priests, and the leading men, and the people,
Nicodemus, too--the man who had formerly visited Jesus by night--came with a roll of myrrh and aloes, weighing nearly a hundred pounds.
"What! You a teacher of Israel," exclaimed Jesus, "and yet do not understand this!
Yet here he is, speaking out boldly, and they say nothing to him! Is it possible that our leading men have really discovered that he is the Christ?
