At that time Jesus Christ began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem, and undergo much suffering at the hands of the Councillors, and Chief Priests, and Teachers of the Law, and be put to death, and rise on the third day.

"You know that in two days time the Festival of the Passover will be here; and that the Son of Man is to be given up to be crucified."

And, while they were eating, he said: "I tell you that one of you will betray me."

Then Jesus said to them: "Even you will all fall away from me to-night. Scripture says--'I will strike down the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'

"This is what I told you," he said, "when I was still with you--that everything that had been written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms, must be fulfilled."

Before the Passover Festival began, Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave the world and go to the Father. He had loved those who were his own in the world, and he loved them to the last.

For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said 'You are not all clean.'

"Jesus of Nazareth," was their answer. "I am he," said Jesus. (Judas, the betrayer, was also standing with them.)

So he again asked for whom they were looking, and they answered: "Jesus of Nazareth."

Afterwards, knowing that everything was now finished, Jesus said, in fulfillment of the words of Scripture: "I am thirsty."

Yet there are some of you who do not believe in me." For Jesus knew from the first who they were that did not believe in him, and who it was that would betray him;

Thou have shown me the path to life, you wilt fill me with gladness in your presence.'

Since, then, Christ suffered in body, arm yourselves with the same resolve as he; for he who has suffered in body has ceased to sin,
