Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas, the High Priest, where the Teachers of the Law and the Councillors had assembled.

They put him in chains and led him away, and gave him up to the Roman Governor, Pilate.

After that, the Governor's soldiers took Jesus with them into the Government House, and gathered the whole garrison round him.

Then they took Jesus to the High Priest; and all the Chief Priests, the Councillors, and the Teachers of the Law assembled.

As soon as it was daylight, the Chief Priests, after holding a consultation with the Councillors and Teachers of the Law--that is to say, the whole High Council--put Jesus in chains, and took him away, and gave him up to Pilate.

Those who had taken Jesus prisoner took him away into the house of the High Priest. Peter followed at a distance.

So Judas, who had obtained the soldiers of the Roman garrison, and some police-officers from the Chief Priests and the Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.

There was then in Caesarea a man named Cornelius, a Captain in the regiment known as the 'Italian Regiment,'

They were bent upon killing him, when it was reported to the Officer commanding the garrison, that all Jerusalem was in commotion.

Just as he was about to be taken into the Fort, Paul said to the Commanding Officer: "May I speak to you?" "Do you know Greek?" asked the Commanding Officer.

The dispute was becoming so violent, that the Commanding Officer, fearing that Paul would be torn in pieces between them, ordered the Guard to go down and rescue him from them, and take him into the Fort.
