Be on your guard against your fellow men, for they will betray you to courts of law, and scourge you in their Synagogues;

Others had to face taunts and blows, and even chains and imprisonment.

And he 'himself carried our sins' in his own body to the cross, so that we might die to our sins, and live for righteousness. 'His bruising was your healing.'
