Indeed, you know that, like a father with his own children, we used to encourage and comfort every one of you, and solemnly plead with you;

For God's Call to us does not permit of an impure life, but demands purity.

That is why God places them under the influence of a delusion, to cause them to believe a lie;

For we were not following cleverly devised stories when we told you of the Coming in power of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eye-witnesses of his majesty.
