The commotion spread through the whole city, and the people rushed together into the amphitheater, dragging with them Gaius and Aristarchus, two Macedonians who were Paul's traveling companions.

While some of the chief religious officials of the province, who were friendly to him, sent repeated entreaties to him not to trust himself inside.

Scripture says-'For thy sake we are being killed all the day long, We are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.'

Are not all the angels spirits in the service of God, sent out to minister for the sake of those who are destined to obtain Salvation?

Sometimes, in consequence of the taunts and injuries heaped upon you, you became a public spectacle; and sometimes you suffered through having shown yourselves to be the friends of men who were in the very position in which you had been.

Others had to face taunts and blows, and even chains and imprisonment.
