Why do You hide Your face and forget our misery and oppression?
My soul clings to the dust. Revive me according to Your word!
Those who used to eat delicacies are desolate in the streets. Those who were brought up in purple embrace trash heaps.
Then I will put it into the hand of your tormentors, who said to you, ‘Lie down, so we may walk over you.’ You have made your back like the ground and like a street for passersby.
Why do You hide Your face and consider me Your enemy?
Why, Adonai, are You standing far off? Why hide Yourself in times of trouble?
Adonai, why do You spurn me? Why do You hide Your face from me?
