A prayer of the afflicted one, when he is faint and pours out his lament before Adonai:
For my days vanished like smoke, and my bones were burned like coals.
Keep me safe, Adonai, from the clutches of the wicked. Protect me from the man of violence who planned to push me off my feet.
Keep me from the jaws of the trap they have laid for me, and from the snares of the evildoers.

You have examined my heart. You searched me at night. Though You test me, You find nothing. I resolved that my mouth will not sin.
They open wide their mouths against me, like a tearing, roaring lion.
Since You are my rock and my fortress, You lead me and guide me for Your Name’s sake.
All day they twist my words. All their thoughts are against me for evil.
Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer.
Trust in Him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart in His presence. God is our refuge. Selah
In the day of my trouble I seek my Lord. At night my hand stretches out untiringly. My soul refuses to be comforted.
Let a cry be heard from their houses when suddenly You bring a troop on them. For they dug a pit to capture me, and hid snares for my feet.
Arise! Cry out in the night at the beginning of the watches! Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to Him for the life of your children who faint from hunger at the head of every street.
Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might trap Him with a word.
