Then he began to curse and to swear an oath: “I do not know the Man!” Right then, a rooster crowed.
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the One who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.
Yeshua said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
A little while later, some of the bystanders approached Peter and said to him, “Surely you’re one of them, too—your accent gives you away.”
Then Peter reminded himself of the word Yeshua had said: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” And he went away and wept bitterly.
All the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children!”
And Yeshua said to him, “Amen, I tell you, today—this very night—before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.”
But he denied it, saying, “I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about!” Then he went outside to the gateway, and a rooster crowed.
But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” And immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
Again Peter denied it, and immediately a rooster crowed.
For I would pray that I myself were cursed, banished from Messiah for the sake of my people—my own flesh and blood,
If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be cursed. Marana, tha! Our Lord, come!
