Yeshua called His disciples and said, “I have compassion for the crowd, because they’ve stayed with Me for three days now and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry, because they might pass out on the way.”

Now a man came from Baal-shalishah, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits—20 loaves of barley bread and fresh ears of corn in his sack. Then he said, “Give them to the people that they may eat.”

For just as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.

Now when Yeshua heard this, He went away from there privately by boat to an isolated place. But when the crowds heard, they followed Him on foot from the towns.

The disciples said to Him, “Where in this wasteland is enough bread to satisfy such a large crowd?”

Moved with compassion, Yeshua touched their eyes. Instantly they regained their sight and followed Him.

“Sir,” they said, “we remember how that deceiver said while He was still alive, ‘After three days I’m to be raised.’

When He saw the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

“It has often thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion and help us!”

When the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her and said, “Don’t cry.”

As day was about to dawn, Paul urged them all to take some food, saying, “Today is the fourteenth day that you have kept waiting and going without food, having taken nothing.

For we do not have a kohen gadol who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all the same ways—yet without sin.
