But when the ruling kohanim and Torah scholars saw the wonders He performed, and the children crying out in the Temple and saying, “Hoshia-na to Ben-David,” they became indignant.

Now when Yeshua had finished these words, the crowds were astounded at His teaching,

And they were astounded at His teaching, for He was teaching them as one having authority and not as the Torah scholars.

But if we say, ‘From men’…?” They were afraid of the crowd, for all held that John really was a prophet.

They were trying to seize Yeshua, because they realized that He spoke the parable against them. But they feared the crowd, so they left Him and went away.

The Pharisees went out right away with the Herodians and began plotting against Him, how they might destroy Him.

For Herod was in awe of John and kept him safe, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man. When he listened to John he was confused, but he still listened gladly.

And He was teaching every day in the Temple. The ruling kohanim and the Torah scholars, even the leaders of the people, were trying to destroy Him;

And all those hearing Him were astonished at His understanding and His answers.

The Torah scholars and the ruling kohanim tried to grab Him that very hour, because they realized that He spoke this parable against them—but they feared the people.

All were speaking well of Him and marveling at the gracious words coming out of His mouth. And they were saying, “Isn’t this the son of Joseph?”

After these events, Yeshua was walking about in the Galilee. He did not want to walk in Judea, because the Judean leaders wanted to kill Him.

Hasn’t Moses given you the Torah? Yet none of you keeps it. Why are you trying to kill Me?”

“Never has anyone spoken like this man,” the guards answered.

But as he was arguing about righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment, Felix became afraid and said, “Go away for now! When I find time, I will summon you.”
