If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them should surely be put to death. They have committed a perversion, and their blood should be on them.

So he turned aside to her along the way and said, “Please let me sleep with you” (for he did not know that she was his daughter-in-law). “What,” she asked, “will you give me to sleep with me?”

“What kind of pledge shall I give you?” he asked. “Your seal, and your cord, and your staff in your hand,” she said. So he gave them to her and he slept with her, and she got pregnant by him.

But if the sun has risen, there is bloodguilt, and he is to make full restitution. If he has nothing, then he must be sold for his theft.

You are not to uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law, for she is your son’s wife. You are not to uncover her nakedness.

You are not to lie with any animal to defile yourself with it, nor is any woman to give herself to an animal, to lie down with it—that is a perversion.

“Cursed is the one who lies with his mother-in-law.’ Then all the people are to say, ‘Amen.’
