Leviticus 16:21

Tree of Life Version

Aaron should lay both his hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the iniquities of Bnei-Yisrael and all their transgressions, all their sins. He should place them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness.

While Ezra was praying and confessing, weeping and prostrating himself before the House of God, a very large assembly of Israelites—men, women and children—gathered around him. The people also wept very bitterly.

Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not hide my iniquity. I said: “I confess my transgressions to Adonai,” and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah

Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your mercy. According to Your great compassion blot out my transgressions.

“You are to bring the bull before the Tent of Meeting, and Aaron and his sons are to lay their hands on its head.

One who covers up his transgressions will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them finds mercy.

We all like sheep have gone astray. Each of us turned to his own way. So Adonai has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

He is to lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, so that it will be accepted for him to make atonement on his behalf.

“When he has finished atoning for the Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting and the altar, then he is to present the live goat.

The goat will carry all their iniquities by itself into a solitary land and he is to leave the goat in the wilderness.

“But if they confess their iniquity and that of their fathers, in the treachery they committed against Me, and how they walked contrary to Me

“So it will be, when one becomes guilty of one of these things, he shall confess about what he has sinned.

For with the heart it is believed for righteousness, and with the mouth it is confessed for salvation.

He made the One who knew no sin to become a sin offering on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
