Judges 2:18

Whenever Adonai raised judges up for them, Adonai was with the judge and delivered them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge. For Adonai was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed and crushed them.

No one will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you or forsake you.

For Adonai will judge His people— for His servants, He will relent when He sees that strength is gone and no one is left, slave or free.

God heard their sobbing and remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

“How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I surrender you, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I set you as Zeboim? My heart is turning over within Me. My compassions are kindled.

Then Jehoahaz sought Adonai’s face, so Adonai listened to him, for He saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Aram oppressed them.

Then they removed the foreign gods from among them, and worshipped Adonai. So His soul could not bear the misery of Israel.

So Adonai regretted that He made humankind on the earth, and His heart was deeply pained.

So He said, “I will surely be with you. So that will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you. When you have brought the people out of Egypt: you will worship God on this mountain.”

When God saw their deeds—that they turned from their wicked ways—God relented from the calamity that He said He would do to them, and did not do it.

Relent, Adonai! How long? Have compassion on Your servants.

They say: “With our tongue we’ll prevail. We own our lips—who can master us?”

Whenever you go to war in your own land against the enemy who is hostile to you, you are to sound short blasts of alarm. Then you will be remembered before Adonai your God and be delivered from your enemies.

But when the judge died, they would keep turning back and acted more corruptly than their fathers, in following other gods, worshipping them, and bowing down to them. They abandoned none of their practices and stubborn ways.

So Adonai relented from the destruction that He said He would do to His people.

When Bnei-Yisrael cried out to Adonai, Adonai raised up a deliverer for Bnei-Yisrael to deliver them—Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger kinsman.

Then the angel of Adonai appeared to him and said to him, “Adonai is with you, O mighty man of valor.”

But Adonai said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you will strike down Midian as if it were one man.”

So Jephthah crossed over to the children of Ammon to fight against them, and Adonai gave them into his hand.
