Are not my days few? Then stop, leave me alone so I might have a little joy,

For You write bitter things against me and make me inherit the iniquities of my youth.

“As God lives, who has deprived me of justice, Shaddai who has made my soul bitter,

Why is light given to one who suffers and life to the bitter of soul,

Will You never look away from me, or let me alone until I swallow my spittle?

“Do not call me Naomi,” she told them. “Call me Mara—since Shaddai has made my life bitter.
