After this, Job opened his mouth and cursed his day.
But now, stretch out Your hand and strike everything he has, and he will certainly curse You to Your face!”
Through all this, Job did not sin nor did he cast reproach on God.
Then they sat with him on the ground for seven days and seven nights. No one spoke a word to him because they saw that his pain was very great.
But now, stretch out Your hand and strike his bone and his flesh, and he will certainly curse You to Your face!”
Then Job answered and said:
“May the day I was born perish, and the night that said, ‘A man is conceived!’
So Job opens his mouth with nonsense, without knowledge he multiplies words.”
For they embittered his spirit and he spoke rashly with his lips.
Oy to me, my mother, that you gave birth to me— a man of strife and conflict to all the land! I did not lend or borrow, yet everyone curses me.
