He loosens the bonds of the kings, and binds a loincloth around their waists.

He changes times and seasons. He removes kings and installs kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.

O Adonai! Surely I am Your servant. I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant. You have freed me from my bonds.

On His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “King of kings, and Lord of lords.”

Now John wore clothing from camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.

with kings and counselors of the earth, who built for themselves places now desolate,

He pours contempt on nobles and loosens the belts of the mighty.

None will be weary and none stumble among them; none will slumber or sleep; no belt will be loose at the waist; no strap of sandals be broken.

Because He has loosened my cord and afflicted me, they have cast off restraint in my presence
