“Should so many words go unanswered? Is a man justified by his lips?

When words abound, transgression is unavoidable. but whoever restrains his lips is wise.

“How long until you end these words? Consider, and then we will talk.

Know this, my dear brothers and sisters: let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger—

Also some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers were conversing with him. Some were saying, “What’s this babbler trying to say?” while others, “He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign deities”—because he was proclaiming the Good News of Yeshua and the resurrection.

Let burning coals fall upon them. May they be cast into the fire, into deep pits, never to rise again.

Is there no end to your futile words? What compels you to answer?

“How long will you say these things? The words of your mouth are like a mighty wind.

Then, Zophar the Naamathite answered and said:

“Does a wise man answer with empty knowledge, or fill his belly with the east wind?

When you swear a vow to God, don’t delay in fulfilling it. For He takes no delight in fools. Pay what you vow!

Do not be quick with your mouth nor hasty in your heart to utter a word in God’s presence. For God is in heaven, and you are on the earth— therefore, let your words be few.
