You shall break the nations with an iron scepter. You shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s jar.”

In their streets they wear sackcloth. On their housetops and in their plazas, everyone wails, weeping profusely.

Is this man Coniah a despised, shattered pot— a jar with no delight in it? Why are he and his seed cast out into the land they do not know?

Wail, you shepherds, and cry! Wallow in the dust, you leaders of the flock! For the days of your slaughter and your dispersions are full. You will fall like a precious vase.

Israel has been swallowed up! Now they are among the nations, like an ornament with no delight in it.

What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear in your ear, proclaim from the housetops!

and he shall rule them with an iron rod, as when clay pots are broken into pieces.’
