“Son of man, set your face toward Teman and proclaim to the South. Prophesy against the brush land of the Negev.

After I had spoken, they spoke no more; my words fell on them drop by drop.

Through your servants, you have blasphemed my Lord and said: ‘With my many chariots I have climbed to the heights of the mountains, to the remotest parts of Lebanon! I cut down its tall cedars and choice cypress trees. I have gone to its farthest peak, its thickest forest.

Therefore, prophesy against them, prophesy, son of man.”

The word of Adonai came to me saying:

Therefore thus says Adonai Elohim: ‘Oy to the city of bloodshed! I will also make the pile great,

“Son of man, set your face toward the children of Ammon and prophesy against them.

“Son of man, set your face toward Sidon and prophesy against her.

“Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt. Prophesy against him and against all Egypt,

“You, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel and say: ‘Mountains of Israel, hear the word of Adonai.

“Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. Prophesy against him

Then take an iron plate and set it up as an iron wall between you and the city. Set your face toward it so that it is under siege. So you will lay siege against it. This will be a sign to the house of Israel.

You will set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem, with your arm bared, and prophesy against it.

“Son of man, set your face toward the mountains of Israel and prophesy to them.

So now, hear the word of Adonai: You are saying, ‘Do not prophesy against Israel and do not preach against the house of Isaac.’

If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood speaks lies—“I will prophesy for you of wine and strong drink”—then he would be a spokesman of this people.

“Do not prophesy,” they prophesy. Unless they prophesy about such things, He will not turn back reproaches.”

And pray for me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News,

May my teaching trickle like rain, my speech distill like dew— like gentle rain on new grass, like showers on tender plants.
