Adonai will open for you His good storehouse—the heavens—to give rain for your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow.

Now it was after many days that the word of Adonai came to Elijah in the third year saying, “Go, show yourself to Ahab; then I will send rain on the land.

“Have you entered the storehouses of snow or seen the storehouses of hail,

He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain. He brings wind out of His storehouses.

The rich rule over the poor, the borrower is a slave to the lender.

I will make them and the places around My hill a blessing. I will cause the rain to come down in its season. There will be showers of blessing.

then I will give you rains in their season, the land will yield its crops, and the trees of the field will yield their fruit.

then I will give rain for your land in its season—the early rain and the late rain —so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil.

Then the Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance with you, along with the outsider, the orphan and the widow within your gates, will come and eat and be satisfied, so that Adonai your God may bless you in all the work of your hand that you do.

You must surely give to him, and your heart is not to be grieved when you give to him—for because of this thing Adonai your God will bless you in all your work and in every undertaking of your hand.

For Adonai your God will bless you as He promised you. So you will lend to many nations, but not borrow; you will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you.

“You are not to charge excessive interest to your brother—on money, food or anything that may be loaned for interest.

Adonai will make the rain of your land powder and dust—it will come down on you from the heavens, until you are destroyed.

He will lend to you, but you will not lend to him; he will become the head and you will become the tail.
