Joy has ceased in our hearts. Our dance has turned into mourning.

They will also gird on sackcloth. Horror will cover them. Shame will be upon all faces. Baldness will be upon all their heads.

“You, son of man, thus says Adonai Elohim concerning the land of Israel: An end! The end has come on the four corners of the land.

Therefore I will return and take back My grain in its season, and My new wine at its appointed time, and I will snatch away My wool and My linen for covering her nakedness.

I will also put an end to all her rejoicing— her feasts, her New Moon, her Shabbat, and all her moadim.

Wail like a virgin dressed in sackcloth for the husband of her youth!

“If a man’s hair has fallen from his head, he is bald. He is clean.

“I hate, I despise your festivals! I take no delight in your sacred assemblies.

Take away from Me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the melody of your harps.

The songs of the palace will become howls in that day.” It is a declaration of my Lord Adonai. “So many corpses flung everywhere! Hush!

For even like tangled thorns they will be consumed, or like drunkards who are drunk, or like stubble that is fully dry.

“Then I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication, when they will look toward Me whom they pierced. They will mourn for him as one mourns for an only son and grieve bitterly for him, as one grieves for a firstborn.

So you will rejoice in your feast—you, your son and daughter, slave and maid, Levite and outsider, orphan and widow within your gates.
