But after two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus; and wishing to do the Judean leaders a favor, Felix left Paul in prison.

But I found that he had done nothing deserving of death; and when he himself appealed to His Majesty the Emperor, I decided to send him.

When they examined me, they wanted to release me because there was no basis for the death penalty.

But when the Judean leaders protested, I was forced to appeal to Caesar—not that I had any charge to bring against my own nation.
